Is BRSV ("bovine respiratory syncytial virus") less susceptible to RNA degradation than SARS-CoV-2 when thawing a sample?

I've noticed that when thawing long-frozen samples (3-4 months at -20 C), most of the SARS-CoV-2 virus does not remain intact, but that the surrogate appears to. Has anyone else noticed this?
