From my personal experience, some organizations / professionals still adopt / adapt Zachman Framework for their or their clients' enterprise architecture design / implementation. However, there are other architecture frameworks available & mushrooming which include TOGAF, DoDAF, FEAF, TEAF, IBM's, DXC's etc. For a comparison among popular architecture frameworks, you can refer to these links:
@Han Ping Fung, Reflecting upon the Zachman Framework, it still has it uses within the area of creating a relationship between IT & Business. The Framework would still enable organisations to alter existing processes or implement NSD. However, I think it goes down to personal preferences and research disciplines as you could also use FEAF (Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework).
In my professional architecture experience in commercial projects the TOGAF ADM is the most popular full enterprise architecture, mainly as it uses process to discover the interactions between the layers, and can be managed as a business 'project' with interim deliverables. I have seen Zachmann used more at the solution or section architecture level of analysis, although often incomplete or as part of the final sign off. The SABSA framework is still popular in security circles.
These days its quite difficult for big companies to migrate to new frameworks or alternate ones. I personally still use Zachmann and FEAF. I think its entirely based on what your research direction is and preference.
My experience is that TOGAF is more popular with institutions moving into EA currently. Those that already had EA before tend to stay with whatever frameworks they already had.
