The evidence on laparoscopic vs. open left sided pancreatic resection is limited. Up to now no evidence from RCT can be used to evaluate the value of the laparoscopic technique.
Given the fact that the incidence of left sided resections is low even in centers for pancreatic surgery we postulate that it is necessary to perform an international trail. Would you be willing to participate?
Even if we only have 1 to 2 cases per year I would include my patients.

One option for an international trial concerning this question would be a randomized controlled registry trial. This form of trails has been used recently in cardiologic research and has the advantages of inclusion of many centers, it is comparably low cost and very fast in recruitment. We will keep you posted on the progression of this idea.

Depending on protocol of the surgical conduct, based on experimental surgery.
Happy to participate but problem is numbers.In 2014 I did only twocases one for neuroendocrine tumour and the other is for large mucinous cystadenoma.
I would like to partipate in this trial since I usually have more than 10 cases a year .However I only performed laparoscopic surgery when tumor is benign because even smaller endocrine tumors may have matastasis.For malign tumors I allways performe radical retrograde pancreatectomy with lymphadenectomy

In 2014 we did 121 mayor pancreatic resections,of these 26 distal resectons ( 12 laparosopically ), 19 for malignant disease.How many patients will be in the study?We would like to particpate.Greetings from HH
During the past 5 years, we had almost 50 distal pancreatectomies. A relevant number is performed laparoscopically. Uunfortunately, the rate of pancreatic fistula is higher than in pancreatodudenectomies. We discussed about the participation in such this study and we would be glad to join in.

We have no experience with lpsc distal pancreatectomy. We do about 15distal PE/year. We probably are not suitable institution in this RCT.
We would be using the registry platform of the DGAV the so called Pancreas Registry and perform a prospective randomized registry study. This study concept has been established in some cardiology trails and seems to be the most promising design of a study with low recruitment possibility. We will soon keep you posted with the details and the design of this study.
Yes we would like to participate in the research. In Pakistan we have high incidence of pancreatitis and we have just started with laparoscopic resection.Can we be the part of an international study? This can extrapolate benefits and feasibilty of this study to low income socioeconomic countries.
