The NEBIE plot network is located near the study you are working on. It is designed to determine the effects of intensification of silviculture on productivity, biodiversity, carbon sequestration, etc. NEBIE includes 20 experimental units each is 2 ha is size.
How old are the plots, Wayne? The strength of the Cartier Lake site is first of all the age (31 yrs after treatments). You are doing many of the same things on the NEBIE plots, but not sure how this could be complementary. Any ideas? I should have a student working on the 30 yr overview in the next couple of years.

the NEBIE at Petawawa were logged 12 years ago. Cartier Lake is a good study, but how can we transfer results from small plots where 100% of the plot was treated and within plot variability is low to forest operations where less than 80% of the area is treated and variability is high. This is not withstanding that the OM was removed from the plots and not reflected in the results - in NEBIE the OM remained on site and is included in results.
