I am from English Literature background. I have written several papers on English literature. Recently I am conducting a research on Bangladeshi folk literature and find it very interesting. If I would like to do my PhD on this field in any reputed UK university, is it possible? Will I get scholarship and supervisor in this regard? Kindly suggest me what to do.

First - it entirely depends on the quality of the English translation. This is impossible to judge if one's not a reader or a speaker, but obviously you have the ability and have the position that you could do so. The kinds of difficulties that can arise are : concepts, ideas etc. that do not exist in English and how you'll need to explain them; this may give rise to having numerous footnotes, but it's preferable to keep these "explainers" in the main text, because these days many people get irritated with too many footnotes. In some cases differing conceptual words/ideas are virtually untranslatable, without "dumbing them down".
Finally, have you not considered a diglot approach? I am sure that your university would permit this. It seems important to keep this knowledge in Bangladesh, as well as to project it to a wider world as well. There is virtually a problem worldwide now - that the smaller language groups are being swamped by English (mainly) and young people are often beguiled by that outlying western culture, so you would be assisting young Bangladeshi girls and boys to understand their own cultural roots and understandings, which would give them a lasting understanding of your unique "ways of thinking". Once this evaporates then people frequently lost their culture, and also sometimes even lose - or worse still, denigrate - their own culture.

How comes?!! Each culture differs from the other one.I just cannot see any point of similarity.
While each cultural group is somewhat different and some groups are VERY different from one another, we share our humanity and therefore need to connect with one another, and this has been proven by many, over the years.
If you're asserting that we're all unable to connect with others, then that's giving up.
Over the years I have lived in many diverse cultures and it's important to connect with our fellow homo sapiens... it can happen with effort and understanding and accepting our diversity!

We live in very different places - I am in Australia but I know people who were born in Mosul. I guess you have translated many articles and I certainly have - I am 70 years old now... These include Aboriginal languages into English and I believe it is important that we can connect with our other human beings who live in far distant places.
Actually, I know someone here who was born in Mosul!

Literature from all parts of the world would always be great, especially, the fact that many hidden things from the various ancient territories will always be a great addition.
I am certain, it will be great research, and you will probably get the best supervisor from the UK.
it is actually a good idea and will contribute to developing Bangladeshi English literature studies. there has been not much work done on folk literature of Bangladesh particularly in English.

I am not sure whether I will get supervisor for this kind of work. One more thing, there are hardly any translation of these works that I am working on. To conduct a research on this field, I have to emphasize more on translation in addition to my research work. Thank you.
in response to your question, I would like to suggest you that you must narrow down your topic to a specific genre in literature, i.e. folk theatre of Bangladesh, or recent trends in Bangladeshi folk songs, treatment of Muslim women in the work of Bangladeshi women writer, treatment of cultural practices etc. Specify your interest in order to receive better input on the topic.
