Manal Hadi Kanaan provided an excellent example from NIU. However, I did find it interesting that actual hours are considered normally "open ended", and despite limitations on individual activities - in addition to the 'standard' teaching ones - I found NO recommendation or regulation actually stating "acceptable" limits on the overall workload of any faculty. The inference is that much more than a "40-hour work week" is expected! That might be good from the Administration point of view but is more likely to lead to discontent and departures from faculty finding better options elsewhere.
