Learners are expected to be knowledgeable and actively participate in society. With the adoption of these artificial intelligence tools, can this objective be met? If so, to what extent will it be achieved, and at what costs?
I do think that AI tools have the potential to transform society in a more democratic way, in the same sense that (to a more limited degree), WIkipedia especially but also other things such as Youtube have democratized their respective userspace by offering knowledge and options and room for creation to their users. Of course, the fact that AI is proprietary and is perhaps guided towards maximising the profits of some people may skew this democratization process, but that also may not be the case in the sense that the really rich guys on top (the owners of the AI) may really have a financial interest in knowledge flowing down to the person in the street. I don't know.
