Modern technology is destructive: it has polluted the earth, the wáter and the air of our planet. Humanity has devastated the ecology of the whole world. Hundreds of animals and plants are now endangered species. Climatic change and global warming are now serious threats for the development of a sustainable life. Humanity has created very sophisticated weapons of mass destruction. War has become a very profitable business. Political and religious radicalism are real threats to the world's peace, as well as racism, hatred and all forms of discrimination. Hunger, poverty and social differences are sources of disease and conflict. All these human creations have become an almost uncontrolable monster that is pushing this world towards global destruction.

Your portrayal of the dark situation threatening our world is certainly true, but it only shows the tip of the iceberg. The most dangerous thing is that certain powerful countries like America are not thinking about the immediacy of such climactic threats . In general, environmental deterioration , the depletion of resources such as air, water and soil, the demise of ecosystems, and the extinction of wildlife are indicative of the fact the world is experiencing frightening man - made disturbances that are deleterious and undesirable to both existence and continuation of the life cycle. I guess this uncontrollable monster, which has already devoured our happiness and created great concerns about the future of our destiny on this planet, would keep on leaving its unhealthy impacts on the mother nature . It seems that the whole of the human existence is moving towards a zero hour, some kind of inevitable destruction that has turned out of control. Unless concerned international bodies and nature lovers start a vigorous cooperation for saving the world, there is no hope for the world governments to take any preventive measures to slacken the pace and they continue to be indifferent to the statues quo .

There are no unsolvable problems, a solution can always be found, and not even one. I want to share my understanding on this issue. For example, you know that some goods you buy every day are associated with harmful production, life-threatening. If everyone on this planet ceases to buy this product, then this product will cease to produce because of its lack of demand, and consequently the harmful production of this commodity will simply cease, will not it. So you can do it in everything else in this life. For each specific vital issue, a good solution can always be found. If we all together in this world begin to sabotage all the goods associated with harmful production, then why produce them? They will simply disappear, and only environmentally friendly goods will remain. Thus, everything ultimately depends on ourselves, on our will. Of course, it is much better and just to be indignant and crying, it is much more difficult to consolidate our forces in order to give a collective rebuff to all the abominable that surrounds us. In short, my brief summary is the fiollowing: what are we ourselves, such is the world around us.

Some people can not be made Cruel.
Some people cannot be made Inhuman.
Every species becomes extinct. Long-lived densely-populated predators become extinct quickly. Humans are the only current example surviving.
We will become extinct. And in a billion years the only trace we will have left behind is a thin layer of plastic and pollution in the geology of a planet so changed that we wouldn't be able to live there anyway.
Thank you all for your answers, though reflecting different points of view, show that all of us are conscious of the threats we face and the obstacles that lie in front of our possibilities of positive action and survival. I ask myself: What can I do to participate actively in saving our cherished blue planet? I agree with Gennady, Dibakar, Colton and Reza that something can be done, but mainly in the everyday life level: for example, I use solar energy to heat water at home, we recycle organic, and inorganic trash: paper and cardboard, metals, glass, and so on. I fight racism and discrimination and promote friendship and respect towards others, on a personal level. I try to find peace of mind and enjoy life and help others, within the limits of my possibilities and understanding.
Only some countries are really trying to fight pollution. We cannot depend on governments to solve problems. Oligarchs have their own agenda and it is not for the benefit of humankind. My intention behind asking this question is to find out how complex are the problems we face and to see if someone is proposing realistic solutions to some of them.
Thank you Amir. I agree with you: we need a better civic education. If everyone would be responsable for his behavior, and conscious of the consequences of their deeds, we would have a better world, but that is not a priority for most governments of the world. I hope we get more answers.

Absolutely! Responsibility for ones actions is critical, and one thing I definitely don't see enough of in the USA. All we can do is our own part and Julio is doing his share, thank you for setting a great example!
All animals (including Homo sapience) having the strongest tendency to follow INSTINCT.
But Homo sapience is the only species of the earth who made some rules to be followed by all of a group.
This species also developed some special quality like unnecessary gathering of wealth, killing of members of other species of animals or member of it's own species without any reasons etc.
Some member of this species developed some anti - instinct qualities like kindness, morality etc.
As these qualities are anti - instinct, so all human being will never develop these among them.
But continuous fight should be there against the odds and negatives.
Otherwise we may have to be perished.

Your answer shows a deep understanding of the problems we are facing and, also, of the possibilities we have to survive, as well as to the lines of action we can take to solve some of them. I think that the fundamental contradiction lies upon the conflict between economic profit and good quality of life for everyone. For example, the mining industry destroys completely the environment. They don't care. They're only interested in profit. What can we do?

Once again, Ashkan, I fully agree with what you explain in your answer. I'm afraid that time is not on our side. The question is: Will conscious social action be able to prevent a global disaster? In many countires corruption has become our worst enemy. New laws have to be approved, urgently, in order to reverse ecological deterioration and an unfair distribution of income.
It has to be world-wide and coordinated. Some proposals through Avaz or Change.org have been successful; but sometimes you have to be very careful. Not all activism is positive and powerful people do not like it. It's not that easy.

I highly recommend David Attenborough's recent documentary: A Life on Our Planet. The threats we face are clearly presented.
The answer seems to depend a lot on how sturdy and resilient these creations are. Infrastructure of most kind is quickly taken over by nature if only neglected just a bit. So, even if civilization falls as a result of human creations, human beings will remain even when these creations are gone. The only prospect of answering no would, it seems to me, be if humans create new types of beings that are more resilient and fit to the natural environment created by humans than humans themselves are. For instance some mutations of GMOs. Nobody knows if this will be the case at present.
Thank you Christian for your answer. Artificial Intelligence and genetically modified humans are no more something that belongs to science fiction. The more it becomes a real possibility, the more I dread. We are not God. I find it terrifying, especially the idea of creating genetically modified humans. Before that, we have to survive the pandemic and its consequences.
