Aquaculture does not help fostering the agriculture unless you parameterize some agriculture with special reference to biodiversity- if I understood your question.

Most aquaculture patterns the agriculture models. However, the sea-base culture is more complicated because of the dynamics of the sea. Yet it is worthwhile to follow the schemes used in agriculture as not to reinvent the wheel.
My opinion is, that it will never be possible to feed a growing world population without a boosting aquaculture. I am not talking about carnivorous fish, but mainly herbivores and omnivores (and maybe a limited amount of carnivors in ideal IMTA settings). Consumers in Europe/America have to get used to also include a substantial amount algae into their diet.
