It is a topical issue, since the rarefaction of the marine resource to feed aquaculture fish which are mostly carnivores, we wonder about the success of herbivorous marine fish such as (Siganus argenteus and other species )I think it's interesting to explore this idea of herbivorous fishes.
Huon Aquaculture is trialling Kingfish aquaculture off the coast of Port Stephens. So far it's going much better than expected, fish are growing extremely rapidly.
I am not in favor of introducing new species into an area where they do not naturally occur, even in an aquaculture environment. The literature is replete with examples of exotic fish species in aquaculture exscaping and there by becoming invasive species, which are almost always disruptive.
