For years I have used a small Excel file to keep records of expenses in rows and columns and it is typically no larger than 50 kB at the end of the year. This year, with no changes in hardware or software, it is growing by about 50 kB each time I make an entry and save the file. At this point I am up to 1,000 kB. Do you have any suggestions as to what may cause this problem?
Delete everything and save it with a different name and see the size of the file. Then start a new file and save with another name and compare the sizes. Both should ideally be having similar sizes. Will see whether it is working.
One reason may be the difference of MS Excel version. New version of MS Office software has more functions and more file size. Otherwise, check your file (system) for viruses.
Just a guess, but maybe the "undo" information is being saved as well? Try saving under a new file name since "save-as" removes the "undo" information
