When we do EDM with side flushing we can see that the wear on the side of the tool electrode where flushing is provided will be higher.

I have attached a picture that has been used by Ozgedik and Cogun in their research work entitled "An experimental investigation of tool wear in electric discharge machining" published in IJAMT in 2006 for the sake of clarity to my question.

What is the reason behind such a wear condition?
