I was pleasantly surprised when ResearchGate's RGFormat was introduced (https://www.researchgate.net/blog/post/introducing-the-rg-format). It seemed like a perfect display format for scientific articles on-screen, as well as inviting to online discussion among researchers.
Now it seems like RG has kept the 'discussion' component (by allowing markup and comments to uploaded PDF's), but the idea of presenting papers using HTML format seems to have been abandoned. Do anyone know why?
Most publishers allows scientific papers to be viewed both as PDF and in HTML format. But the HTML version is usually crap, especially compared to the beautiful RGFormat, which is no-where to be seen anymore.
