Usually we know that Streptococcus pneumoniae affects people in cold. But while I tried to culture it the temp. needs 37C in the incubator with CO2. Why this temparature variable anybody can answare?
Inhaling cold air leads to multiple effects in human airways. 1 cooling the respiratory cells// 2 enhanced deposition of inhaled aerosols (air pollution as a factor) // 3 acidification of respiratory mucus layer/// All of these factors leads to suppression of the immune response of the cells and defense mechanism of airways (mucociliary clearance and etc). Short-term effects of cold air inhalation lead to short-term depression of defense mechanisms of the airways - and this allows to infection to attack the cells. Under normal environmental conditions, the respiratory cells have high protection against infection// /
