Your question is reasonable but you may have to think two separate factors (that may interconnect somehow):

1. How is the calcification reconstructed from this software (i.e how the result is connected with the inputs you provide)?

2. Calcification may occur within an artery plaque and it will affect its biomechanics and stability. If you don't assume a plaque volume in your inputs, then the software may assume that the calcification occurs in the middle of the artery path but in fact this lives inside a plaque that you don't see there (as it was never considered in your model).

Hope this helps somehow to unravel some of the software calculation mechanisms.

In MIMICS software there is no option of considering plaque volume before before reconstruction. It semiautomatically generates plaques, within the coronary path. But in my case the plaque seem to be in the center, which is not logical

Is the calcification or the plaque, in the center? The calcification can occur inside the plaque, so if you don't have plaque there at all, then you only see calcification (somewhere in the center).

Dear Sir, in mimics there is no term named plaque, the only entity which can separately reconstructed is calcification.

Noushin Anan How can u say that it is at center of artery only, MIMICS uses 2d images so plaque is at one side surface attached, hence as of my knowledge yes, u can reconstruct the plaque in MIMICS. You can take either symmetric or Non symmetric type plaques.
