The band-gap of TiO2 depends upon various factors including synthesis parameters, temperature, doping etc.
Doping is an efficient technique to reduce the band gap of TiO2.
As change in particle size leads to changes in interatomic spacing. So, the amplitude of atomic vibrations increases by doping, leading to larger interatomic spacing which increases the particle size. The previous Literature reveals that increase in particle size results in reduction band gap. This may b a cause of band gap reduction in your case.
