It is a success made with the assistance of social media. Not all people are interested in scientific issues but most of them are interested in sport and TV.

Scientists and inventors didn't have the same platform with the athletes. Scientists and inventors make world better to live in but the athletes put smiles on people's face and make them happy. Scientists and inventors though uncelebrated, make life easier and comfortable to live in whereas athletes are the cynosure of every eye with many trophies in their honour.

Most of the people like cheap things, like cheap entertainments, cheap food, cheap garments, Cheap choices ...Only a few are outside that circle. But these outside people is supplying inputs to the mass. The scientists developed some medicines like antibiotic to reduce the death rate, discovering steps for growing more food for people to get sufficient food etc. -- in return, the 'mass' producing offspring without thinking anything.ares

This is reality.

The actors / actresses and athletes make you dream because often we also unconsciously identify ourselves in their roles. Scientists wake you up, interrupting this magnificent dream, and bring you back to the brute reality of everyday life. When you finally realize that the madman who was inveighing and firing lightning and flashes against pollution was right, he was already long dead along with a large part of the environment.

We see the actors and athletes constantly, while the scientists and researchers see them when they obtain a result, a small number of people. regards

A sad reality, indeed!

I think that it's because sportsmen/women, athletes, and actors are principally there to entertain. (although if one watches the footballers at the clubs which I support, sometimes that might be questioned!!).

By contrast, scientists and inventors are not.

That said, I do know a number of colleagues who, in their spare time, are first class fiddle players, and organists or amateur actors. Then there's Kenny Deuchar, a doctor who played football for a number of senior Scottish Clubs, and at the highest club level.

We are Intellectual people not Entertainer, Only same/our class of people can follow and understand us but of all age & class of people can follow actors and athletes.

Actors and athlets are performing infront of a mass... and the mass gathered can follow the theme but in scientific achievements it is mostly hidden till we succeed and our work can be understood by the fellow men. And our political system also hv a role as they soldom encourage scienists and researchers in a common platform.

I think its because of the profession and the interest of general public.....lay man....a well education teacher....student or even a house wife are interested to know about actors...or athletes...instead of a scientist....only a limited community that are themselves associated with the field of education or sciences takes interest in scientists.....
