It is certainly a good way for universities and students to optimize benefiting from rare available resources. We have a modest experience in this domaine I had the privilege to be the first doing this at our university which started a new branch in Aqaba some 300km from Amman, at the beggining there were few students in some disciplines and very few professors, the experience was generally positive there were 6 to 10 students in Aqaba followng and interacting with me and my lectures in direct by video conference. There were some difficulties at the beginning related to occasional weaknesses of the internet link 5 years ago however progressively This became a nice routine. The whole process needs some training and may not be always suitable in some specific cases or disciplines.

There is that and add in the different learning styles of students. Equally I would reckon this is a great way for students to revisit a lecture. However not only the internet infrastructure could be an obstacle. Imagine following a two or three hour lecture via video feed.

There are some limits and in my opinion this should be a series of short videos covering the basics of the lecture, putting onus on the students to learn the rest from books and articles, doing their own research. That's another stopgap for many students. Will and capability are not a given.

Lastly are universities distributors of knowledge. This technology will commoditise this advantage and destroy any margin you might have. Not only that, look at the MOUs - completion rates of 2-4% are something no serious university will want to advertise with.

"online" certainly has its place but not as a 100% replacement of classroom teaching.

Even now you can watch for free thousands of lectures from famous professors and institutions, e.g. MOOCs , some even offer certificates and credits at low cost. Concerning teleconferencing, there exit a lot of firms that do offer excellent services. I am sure that exponential knowledge automation will transform the way we teach, learn and communicate.

Why not. It is adopted in my university.

Universities who are not making good use of video conferencing must go back to their drawing tables! It is one of the finest strategies of teaching distant, matured students saddled with huge work and family responsibilities while addressing their concerns. Yet, occasionally, it must be fused with face-to-face lectures. This synergistic approach is the best.

They are quite far away from the sources.

Attitude matters, not expense.

Yes, it is one of the most useful techniques in teaching, but I do not think it is used in all universities because of some technical and financial difficulties facing their use.

Definitely some problems are there to follow this idea in every college, every University or even in every subject. Some practical classes may require separate thinking. But if logically one University accept that idea, then some ways will come out during discussion before implementation of the decision.The nature of such problems will vary from case to case and searching of ways to solve such problems have to be done accordingly.

I believe that self-education is the future for extracting all knowledge from the Internet. I also believe that examinations for universities should be canceled altogether, since everyone has the right to receive knowledge. This will solve problems both with health and with corruption.
