some researches shows that SDGs are not will bring significant contribution to developing nations especially Africa, in such a way that knowing the very reasons and pressures is mandatory.
1. SDG's are meant for those who have already attained Food Security. For those who have acted against the environment and are fearing the consequences and are seeking solutions. Blowback.
2. Africa is mostly 'yet-to-develop'. SDG's are NOT a priority. Africa is 'yet-to-act'.
3. Ergo, first let Africa attain Food Security. Then we can talk of SDG's.
4. In education however, SDG's can be emphasized, to inspire the next generation to make it their goal, AFTER first food security has been attained.
5. 'Moral philosophy cannot be preached to hungry stomachs.'
6. If however, SDG's are preached to unready minds and imposed on them, the 'rich/developed' will flaunt environmental norms, take unfair advantage and get richer and the burden of following SDG's will fall on the poor. As is happening now.
The effectiveness of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa is a complex issue that requires a deeper examination. While SDGs aim to address global challenges, their implementation and impact can vary based on region-specific factors. Africa faces unique challenges such as poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation, which require tailored approaches for sustainable development.
Several reasons contribute to the perceived shortcomings of SDGs in Africa. These include insufficient resources, inadequate infrastructure, governance issues, and conflicts that hinder progress towards these goals. Additionally, a lack of localized strategies and inclusivity in decision-making processes may limit the effectiveness of SDGs in addressing Africa's diverse needs.
To enhance the impact of SDGs in Africa, it's crucial to prioritize local engagement, foster partnerships, allocate adequate resources, and ensure that policies and interventions are context-specific. By addressing these challenges and integrating the voices and perspectives of African communities, the SDGs can better support sustainable development across the continent.
Policy Framers or Designers used a trickle-Down approach and this could not efficiently and effectively work in the African settings where there is unstreamlined and unstructured regional and community settings coupled with massive cultural diversities. The vulnerable and marginalized communities could receive such funds ,it just remains in the hands of few stakeholders. The better system to applied by key policy designers should use Bottom-up approaches ,there these goals will be very effective to the grass-root communities where abject poverty is deeply confined.
Because of the challenges. Conflict and instability: political instability, conflict, and lack of governance in some African countries can hinder progress towards achieving the SDGs; Lack of resources: many African countries face resource constraints in terms of funding, technology, infrastructure, and expertise to fully implement the SDGs.
