Fascinating ! It seems that the male Lions comprise of both young and old folks not essentially "Bachelor". They possibly come from same territorial region, therefore do not indulge in fighting but display male strength in numbers.
Thanks, Syed. In some primates older individuals (often dispossessed) may belong to so-called bachelor groups. The idea of regional territoriality is intriguing. Do you know of any such cases in more natural circumstances? Glenn
Thank you, Ashkan. The usual presence of 1 to 3 adult males in a pride was the basis for my referring to the depicted group as "so many males." Also, as far as I can tell, there are no females or immatures in the group depicted, so no indication that this is a pride. Can you give me a reference for non-breeding helpers in prides?
