I may recall here chapter 9 “Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability” from the “Contribution of Working Group II to the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change”.
Climate change can cause poverty itself. Therefore eradication of poverty alone without tackling the negative effects of climate change is just like cutting the floral parts of a plant while the root systems are intact. It will grow and produce other floral parts.
Climate change could result to desert encroachment, "defertilsation" of lands due to floods or increase in temperature leading to extinction of decomposers and the attendant slow down of biodegradation, lost of aquatic and wide lives, and so on. Agriculture is the mainstay of most African countries and all these will affect agricultural productions and consequently aggravate poverty and hunger
