Even some key well known professors or scientists in world renowned academic universities or institutes doesn’t update their lab webpage/websites including personal, publications, projects etc… Are they not stopping several talented young graduates joining their lab and missing collaboration within nation and overseas ?
1) Is is not important for scientist/professors in current research field to know what exactly is going on in their research area and what has been done and what has to be done for future research proposals ?
2) Is is not important for a graduate student to know why should he/she should join a particular lab ?
3) Are universities/Institutes missing some graduate students if the details were not disclosed ?
That the webpages are not periodically (or at all) updated (even created), I think, is more probably due to lack of time in view of many other prior, possibly more urgent and important, commitments. Anyway, whatever they publish can nowadays be easily found on web.
Probably, the proper person who maintains the web page may not be available in many labs. Most of the labs depend on the company or some academic resources.
