We observed at high [temps ranging from 300'C and above] SCC cube under test explodes. Any previous study and references will be appreciated.
Entrapped vapor in specimens causes internal pressure at high heat rate. The behaviour can be observed in all high performance types having high binder content and low permeability. Water steam cannot release out in such concrete type at elevated temperatures, and specimens explode. Before testing at high temperature you can try drying the specimens in oven.
What the standard methodology to completely dry off the sample and get rid of this internal vapour?
Please find the attached file. This file is explaining the behavior of SCC under high temperature. I hope it can help you to find the best answer. The main reason of seeing this phenomena is transforming water to vapor and entrapping in the concrete can cause an increase in internal pressure.

Dear Syed, at temperatures higher than 300. The calcium hydroxide I'm the cement matrix de-hydroxylate releasing the water and keeping the calcium oxide. The water released from that process causes high vapour pressure that in mixes with low permiability will not easily find a way to be released and as such increase in the internal stresses will take place within the cement composite leading to explosion.

The cause of the explosion is the composition of the concrete and the pressure of the water vapor in the closed spaces within the concrete. The degree of stacking of concrete plays an important role in the occurrence of such collapse.
