Hello everyone.

I noticed that the magnetization curves of materials are sometimes given with an MH curve, and sometimes with a BH curve. I can switch from a MH curve to a BH curve with B=u0(H+M) in SI or B=H+4piM in cgs.

Why for some materials (like metals or ferrofluids), the magnetization curve is often given as a BH curve, whereas for particles, a MH curve is generally given ? For the same reason, saturation values are often given in Tesla for metals but in emu/g for magnetic particles.

If I don't have a curve, but only the magnetization value at saturation in Gauss or Tesla of a material, how can I switch to emu/g or Am2/kg for particles made of this material ?

Thank you a lot for your help

Simon
