Quenching under pressure in liquid media allows governing of phase transformation in steels. It can be used for creation of nano - bainitic microstructure in large steel parts due to very fast cooling of surface layers. Probably, it will be widely used in the future in forging shops where forging and quenching could be combined. Such approach increases significantly strength of steel with the simultaneous improvement of its plastic properties.
At present, there is not enough knowledge concerning quenching machine components and tools in liquid media under pressure. Quenching under pressure requires designing and manufacturing a special equipment. There are no enough evidences of receiving very big benefits when using quenching under pressure. However, step by step the new technology will enter into the practice.
Industrialists always seen to cost, whether the tools or manpower or expertise and the development of any industry is linked mainly to provide money needed for research .
Chapter 8 describes the characteristics of steel quenching under pressure. It has been shown that for conditions where the Biot number Bi approaches infinity, it is possible to control the surface temperature during nucleate boiling. This expands the potential for low-temperature thermomechanical treatment (LTMT) and steel quenching in water under pressure.

Thank you very much Prof. Murali Krishna for your important comments. Yes, equipment is expensive. However, one can use mineral or organic salts instead of pressure which increase significantly boiling point of liquid (quenchant). In this case conventional quench tanks are suitable and cost is minimal. I'll appreciate your additional comments and discussion.
