I am preparing drug loaded nanofibers by using polyurethane polymer. I am using +15KV and -3.5KV voltage, distance 15cm and speed 0.2ml/h. The problem is that nanofibers are not uniform in diameter. I have used polymer concentration of 10% and 15% but this problem still persist.
Can anyone suggest me how to resolve this issue ?
The variation of surface tension as well as melt viscosity and interelectrode spacing acting strongly on the size of nanofibers during electroforming.
I agree with Dr.serge his notes, but probably using a rotary collector could give a better result
There are many parameters that affect the morphology of nano fibers in electrospinning. So, any variation in these parameters specially viscosity, voltage and even surrounding ambient can reduce the uniformity. Therefore, in first step try to minimum the fluctuation of parameters.
In addition, checking the other distances can be helpful.
