Hi dear Ali,
There is a vital term in the G/CQDs formation procedure entitled "Carbonization". This term is a double-sided blade; although it is a requisite to create CQDs' carbonaceous back-bone its continuation may bother you. I assume that your sample has undergone a severe graphitization process. Therefore, I recommend to reduce either the reaction time or temperature.
I hope you find optimum reaction parameters.

Other issue may be to control the combustion/carbonization in an appropriate atmosphere e,g, 5% O2 in N2...
Have to consider the backbone mechanism of carbonization w.r.to precise atmospheric conditions.
Have you added any solvent (water/organic solvent) during hydrothermal pyrolysis. If not, please add.. You may also reduce the temperature and pyrolysis time.
