There are more credible reasons as to why there is no Nobel prize in math. Chiefly among them is simply the fact he didn't care much for mathematics, and that it was not considered a practical science from which humanity could benefit (a chief purpose for creating the Nobel Foundation).
Further, at the time there existed already a well known Scandinavian prize for mathematicians. If Nobel knew about this prize he may have felt less compelled to add a competing prize for mathematicians in his will.
However, there is a prize for mathematics that is equivalent to a Nobel Prize - the Fields Medal. In fact though, the equivalent award is the prestigious Abel Prize. The Abel Prize is given out annually by the King of Norway with winners selected by a panel of five international mathematicians.

As Richard Phillips Feynman said;

The important line is “The test of its validity is not experiment”. You can’t truly do an experiment and find weather mathematics is true of not. Probably its THE LANGUAGE the GOD knows. You can’t ask weather the language is true or not.
If there is no experimental proof; you won’t get the prize.
I wonder if it's because of the assumption that mathematics is subsumed into the scientific disciplines for which prizes are given. I think this assumption is wrong, as mathematics is a scientific discipline all its own.
