Both quick set and slow set emulsions are used in slurry seal. If quick set emulsion is used, we need to make sure that emulsion doesn't break in the tank before applying to the pavement. If slow setting emulsion is used, we need to make sure that it doesn't take very long time to open the road for traffic. Additives and mineral filler affects the setting time greatly. Playing with this two, setting time can be adjusted to a desired level, no matter whether QS or SS emulsion is used.
