Why is the temperature near the sea level higher and it decreases in the mountainous region and why do coastal areas generally face a moderate climate?
The absorbed heat is later radiated into the atmosphere. So, the layer of air close to the surface gets heated. This heat gets transferred vertically to the adjacent upper layers of air. Therefore, the temperature near the sea level is higher and it decreases at the mountainous region. As such, sand gets heated or cooled more rapidly as compared to water under the similar conditions. Thus a large difference in temperature is developed between the land and the sea due to which land and sea breezes are formed. These breezes make the climate near the sea shore moderate.
