I guess you are tying to insert it as interactive content (using ActiveX) and not as a simple image. Maybe your ActiveX settings in Word/Powerpoint prevent the execution of the control .(see https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Enable-or-disable-ActiveX-settings-in-Office-files-f1303e08-a3f8-41c5-a17e-b0b8898743ed?CorrelationId=94b3fc23-4b39-4d1d-9f84-8a6ab7c02f49&ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US).

Thank you for your reply, Rene. Yes, it is using ActiveX. But i tried changing my activeX settings to "Enable all controls without restrictions or without prompting", still no luck :(

I tested it with Word using Insert -> Object -> Create from File. The ChemBio application starts, but also starts the trial dialog waiting for a response. Unfortunally this window is not visible. I opened the task manager and used right click on "CambridgeSoft Software Activation"  (see attached image) and then "Bring to front". Then I could click the ok button on the dialog and after confirming the dialog a second time the structure was embedded into Word.

Thanks again Rene, I tried it, and managed to embed the structure on word, but it was only a static image, not an interactive one, that I can rotate the way I want.

That is probably because the object I inserted was saved as a Chem3D XML (.c3xml) file. How do I save a file as an interactive image in Chembio3D? Maybe if I insert such a file I would get what I want...

You can rotate it, when switching into "edit" mode (see Pic1.png). If you want it to be interactive all the time, you can use the ActiveX control directly.

Activate the developer tab using (see Pic2.png) and on the tab itself switch into "Design Mode". Then click on the symbol marked in Pic3.png. From the dialog then select "Chem3D Embed". You page should then look like pic4.png. Leave the Design Mode and click on the marked icon (bottom left), will open the ChemBio Application (you need to do the trick with the task manager because of the trial dialog. Open the c3xml file (which will appear in a new tab in ChemBio), use Select-All (Ctrl-A) and Copy (Strg-C), switch to the tab belonging to Word ("Chem3D XML in *) and press Paste (Strg-V). Then select from the menu (File -> Exit & Return To) or (File -> Update).

It should be on the list after installing ChemBio 3D. Do you got the entry "CS Chem3D Control 14.0" in the list?

If it is not in the list, search for the file "Chem3DCtl14.ocx". Open a console (use need to have administrator rights) and try to register the control "regsvr32 Chem3DCtl14.ocx".

I could not find "Chem3DCtl14.ocx" So I tried doing the whole thing on a different computer. And it worked perfectly on Word... But i need it on powerpoint :(

I dont see the 'design mode' on Powerpoint . I have "Chem3D Embed" on the "more controls" dialog box, and I can get the Chem3D embed box, but when I double click on the small  icon, it opens a VBA project, not Chembio3D.

Got it!! I have to run the slideshow, then the small icon links directly to Chem3D. Wow!!

One final question.. Does the computer on which I will be running the slideshow during the presentation also has to have Chem3D installed? If so is there anyway this could be avoided?

Yes, Chem3D has to be installed on the computer. Since the rendering and interaction functionality relies on this program there is no way to avoid it.

Hi... I've got another problem, when I go to slideshow ---> launch Chem3D ----> Copy and paste the structure onto "Chem3D XML in *" ---> and update, this is not permanent.

Once I end slideshow, when I start slide show again, the structure embedded is not there, only the Chem3D embed box. :( :(

Looks the control does not support the loading from properties. Maybe the following workaround can help: Add a button to the Slide with the control (see Pic1.png). Double-click on the button to open the VBA-Editor. The function should look like "Private Sub CommandButton21_Click()". Add the DataURL as follows:

     Me.Chem3DEmbed1.DataURL = "w:\Alpha Helix.c3xml"

End Sub

"w:\Alpha Helix.c3xml" should point to your file to load. You need to save the presentation as a macro-enabled powerpoint (pptm). When running the presentation you need to click on the button in order to display the structure.

I did that, but nothing happens when I click on the command button (in slideshow mode).

I have attached my VBA- editor, could you see if there is anything wrong with the code I've given? "w" is your drive right? and should it be in lowercase letters?

The ID of the button is CommandButton21? You copied the file to the root directory of your e: drive?

In order to see if the button method is executed, add the following as the first statement:
