Hello,

Enthalpy is a state variable that was invented because Heat Q is a process variable - right?

ΔH = ΔU + ΔpV

ΔH = Q – W + ΔpV

ΔH = Q – pΔV + ΔpV (at constant p, isobaric)

ΔH = Q – pΔV + pΔV = Q

The increase in enthalpy of an ideal system is equal to the isobaric added heat: dH = CpdT = dQ

How can H be a state variable and Q not, if dH=dQ??

Best Regards

Lothar
