Russell, you should download MOD16A2 and MOD16A3 products from the NTSG group website at http://files.ntsg.umt.edu/data/NTSG_Products/MOD16/. To download specific tiles you can use the following command:

wget -r -nH -np -I "/data/NTSG_Products/MOD16/MOD16A2.105_MERRAGMAO/Y2008/" -A "*.h22v03.*.hdf" http://files.ntsg.umt.edu/data/NTSG_Products/MOD16/MOD16A2.105_MERRAGMAO/Y2008/

Here only the data for the h=22, v=03 tile from the 8-day MOD16A2 product collection will be downloaded.

Thanks, but I need v006 500m data. These new datasets are not hosted by the UMT group.

Maosheng Zhao from UMT wrote me yesterday and suggested that the new MOD16 v006 ET in 500m not be used for scientific research. The same for the v006 MOD17 NPP product.
