I am installing a home UPS system of 1400 VA. The UPS is a 24 volt system and, based on the batteries available on the market for the UPS segment here, will need 2 x 12 volt batteries for it.
Based on what the UPS service engineer told me, and my own research on the internet, I had nearly settled on getting a 150 AH battery.
When I was talking with a battery dealer, I mentioned that my UPS was 'solar compatible', and I also planned to connect a 500 watt solar power system (PV panel + charge controller) to my home UPS. Then he said that I should purchase a C10 battery, as these batteries were recommended for solar power uses.
The maximum load capacity for the batteries are as bellow:
A 150 AH battery at C20, will last for 20 hours on a load of 7.5 A.
A 150 AH battery at C10 will last for 10 hours on a load of 15 A.
A 150 AH battery at C5 will last for 5 hours at a load of 30 A.
As the C10 and C5 battery have higher charging and discharging carrying current capacity i.e small charging period (10 and 5 hour respectively). While the C20 battery has 7.5 A charging and discharging capacity and take 20 hours to charge completely. The peak sunny hours for a day is 5-7. Therefore the C5 battery is most suitable for the solar power use.

I am also confused that if we charge a C5, 150 Ah battery with 15A at the place of 30 A than how is the battery performance will be affected.
To work with lower voltage is better than to work with higher voltage, for better control and operation. For same VA capacity, with lower voltage, charging time needed would , also be less.....

Could you share detail of your load consumption and appliances ? The draw out current is decided by the type of device you connect it to. For example, your fridge will draw more current than your home lights.
Also 15 Amp current seems to be quite high for normal home appliances.

Then just add up your current x time. Compare that with the charge time of the UPS. Given that you live in HP, you should get enough sunlight all year long to select the lowest and most economical batteries. I woudn't be dictated by the C5 recommendation.

C10 battery type (of sufficient AH capacity) is recommended for solar applications, as I have been myself using the same for past 3 years in my home setup after doing thorough research, and it does not normally switch to mains during normal use(2 lights/2 fans/mobile chargers/laptop charger/other 5 Amp. low power devices) on completely sunny days. However solar panels should be of sufficient wattage, and installed at location having almost direct sunlight on solar panels for 5-6 hours in the day. I am also using BLDC ceiling fans/exhausts and LED lighting (given away all CFL and GLS bulbs/tubes) to achieve the maximum benefit from solar energy stored in batteries. Wire of sufficient thickness and minimum length possible (as per recommendation of solar UPS manufacturer) should be used for solar panel to solar UPS connection to avoid heat dissipation through wiring.
C10 is Highly recommend for solar related uses than C20.
C20 is better for normal electricity or grid supply system.
