It puzzled me a little, given mismatch between the topic of the recent paper and my paper. I went to RG and downloaded the citing paper -- there is no reference to our work. On the one hand, this is good -- there was no reason to cite our work. But what is RG's algorithm doing to have sent this to me? Is this AI slop? DRR
Dear Dave Raj Raman It’s almost certainly a metadata‐parsing glitch. ResearchGate’s system automatically scans DOIs, titles, and author names in uploaded documents and sometimes picks up partial or similar matches that don’t actually exist in the reference list. It’s not a sign of AI malice or your paper being overlooked; it’s just an imperfect automated process. The quickest fix is to send the correct DOI and article details to RG support so they can update or remove the false notification.

In short: No one mis-cited you, it’s just ResearchGate’s imperfect citation-detection system, which uses automated algorithms (with some AI elements) that sometimes create false matches.
