Why does my liver cell line not produce uric acid after adding xanthine or adenosine?

I am working with the THLE-2 liver cell line to study uric acid production. I treated the cells with xanthine or adenosine , expecting the purine metabolism pathway to produce detectable levels of uric acid. However, no significant uric acid production was observed in the cell culture supernatant.
