I performed a tip-dating analysis and wanted to visualize the results in FigTree. In my case, it's only fossils, so I need to edit the time scale axis. I use the age of the most recent fossil as the offset. When I do this, the ages of the nodes are correct. The problem arises with the "Scale axis" option when I try to reverse the axis so that older dates are on the left and more recent ones are on the right, as it should be. For example, my most recent fossil is 208 million years old. When I reverse the axis, the root appears to be 161 million years old, which doesn't make any sense. Has anyone else experienced this? Where am I going wrong?
