I think, 'translation theories', in general, have acknowledged the existence of 'problems and difficulties' that 'might' encounter translators and interpreters at different phases of the act of translating/ interpreting. These problems and difficulties ,which are of different kinds, have effects on translation/interpretation process and product. It has been claimed that the majority of these problems and difficulties are attributed to the differences between SL and TL linguistic or cultural systems, and the a few are due to lack of training /preparation, and very few are circumstantial (given texts or speech factors).
This theoretical base is always taken into account when it comes to teach translation or train interpreters as well. I think this pictures translation/interpreting as a profession of problems and difficulties, and the result is always pressure and tension among translators and interpreters.
Do you agree or disagree? If No, can you explain why?
