Why do reduced soils become more alkaline?
Acidic soils become more alkaline, but the general tendency is towards neutrality of pH. The rice literature goes into the chemistry in minute detail.
Yes, i agree with Paul, soil pH use to stabilise near neutrality , regardless of its initial pH, acidic or alkaline in nature. But , more important is the flushing out of the reaction products from the reaction site....
