Why do places of higher altitude and coastal regions have moderate temperature in summer and does the air temperature show more variation in the coastal areas why?
Places at high altitudes have moderate temperatures due to their height above sea level. Places at coastal regions have moderate temperatures due to their closeness to the sea. Inland areas usually have greater temperature extremes from day to night and from season to season because land absorbs and loses heat energy more quickly than water. A sea breeze occurs when the warmer air inland rises and the cooler air from the coast moves in to take its place.
