The vast majority of transitions between Orthodontic appliances occur from functional appliances to fixed orthodontics ass with braces, due to the change between deciduos teeth and permanent dentition, or because the orthopedic treatment has already achieved its objectives and a second phase with orthodontic appliances is needed. Another very common transition in recent years is from fixed appliances with brackets to corrective orthodontics with aligners, as the effectiveness of the latter has been demonstrated, along with their comfort, ease of oral hygiene, and reduction in emergency appointments, which is common with fixed appliances with brackets.
The acceptance and wear time of removable appliances is influenced by patient-related factors such as age, personality traits, the importance of personal appearance, and the self-perception of malocclusions by the children.
