Many sociologists prefer to study gender, social stratification, development, etc but apparently neglect the study of corruption in developing countries like the Philippines. Normative disciplines dominate this research field. Of course the problem of defining it sociologically or scientifically is a major problem. The practicality or doability of doing corruption research in repressive regimes is another reason of its unpopularity in sociology. And yet corruption is a major problem in poor and developing countries that needs the help of social scientists. Any insights? Thanks in advance!
