When boron carbide and aluminum powder mix is ball milled, SEM micrographs have shown that B4C particles break up when the milling is done in wet medium such as ethanol or toluene. On the contrary, larger particle sizes are observed when the milling is carried out in dry atmosphere such as argon or nitrogen, keeping all other parameters same in both cases.
