With the explosion of online learning opportunities on any subject on the earth, that too free cost , a number of people register for online courses enthusiastically , but leave them in the middle, without completing them. It could be due to personal factors of the learner or factors , related to the design and conduct of the course,itself. Were any studies conducted to identify the reasons for this ?

Lack of commitment and lack of authentication of certificate given after completion of course. Free of cost also means no monetary involvement which is another easy to quit.
