hi, I have done some adsorption experiments and the results showed high affinity of the adsorbent to copper rather than zinc. is it correct to conclude that this is due to the higher electronegativity of copper rather than zinc. Or it is not right conclusion, due to the fact that the electronegativity is related to the atom not the ion?
I appreciate if anyone could help me.

The point of zero charge (pzc), in physical chemistry, is a concept relating to the phenomenon of adsorption, and it describes the condition when the electrical charge density on a surface is zero . It is better to determine the point zero charge of your adsorbent. In addition its better to consider the effective nuclear charge, the size of the atoms and also the charge on the Cu and Zn metal ions respectively.

the adsorbent is the same for both Cu and Zinc. it has negative charge.
