Hello, i'm trying to fractionate and characterize the dissolved organic material of my wastewater. I do realize that the COD related to the humic acid fraction is always higher than the COD related to the fulvic acid fraction. Surprisingly, these two fractions have roughly same amount of total organic carbon (TOC).

Does someone have any explanation or referring to literature about that?

Thanks you very much.
