Can anyone please suggest me to convert nc to grb format.I am new to CDO. I used
cdo -b 16 -f grb copy file.nc file.grb
to convert it but the problem with the CDO is that it is converting all variables with a different name that was not in the nc file.
Ex.
SMO_0-10m is converting as PTENDsfc
SMO_10-40m as PVORTsfc
Please help me to convert nc to grb format file.
Your suggestion/help will be appreciated.

have you installed CDO with grib_api? If you want to retain the grib information better convert the file into netcdf format using wgrib2 and then use CDO operators.
Hi, Thanks for your answer. I have NC files which i am converting to grb (grib1). by using
cdo -b 16 -f grb copy input.nc output.grb
In this output.grb all the variable names are coming like var1,var2,var3,etc..instead of its name.

cdo -f grb copy GLDAS_NOAH10_3H.A20141201.0000.020.nc4 output.grb
cdo setpartabn,mypartab output.grb final.grb
