First of all lab reactors are not universal that you mention a very specific question and people can answer based on assumptions about everything ...that what kind of reactors you have and what can go wrong with them....
Also, I wonder why do you need aspirator at first place?
You probably have the aspirator bottle connected to the anaerobic reactor for biogas (mainly methane and carbon dioxide) collection by liquid displacement.
When the system is in equilibrium things would be fine. During operation, an increase in reactor pH will increase solubility of carbon dioxide as it is an acidic gas. As a consequence, a partial vacuum (negative pressure) will be created in the reactor head-space which will in turn cause back-flow from the aspirator bottle to the reactor.
To obtain reliable answer to your question you should put a detailed description of your laboratory biogas production set up (the design of a laboratory apparatus). I agree with @Abhijeet Singh´s answer above.RegardsVit
