Arguments for the existence of a Deity, other than something like the God-cum-Nature of Spinoza, tend to be fairly easy to dismiss. We do not seem to need a God with a will, any more than we need free will ourselves. Arguments about purpose tend to be circular - the purpose of legs seems to be to move the mind about and the purpose of the mind seems to be to move the legs about. The perfect balancing of cosmological parameters allowing life to emerge can be dealt with by the anthropic principle. And so on.

But there is just one thing that looks too good to be true. Why do the sun and moon appear to us as exactly the same size. Surely this is just too much of a coincidence. It is almost as if there is a Deity that either has a sense of humor or has a touch of OCD and likes to present his flock with a tidy sky. OK they could have been very nearly the same size, but exactly the same?

Or is there some simple explanation?
