Nowadays, people have obtained good transformation efficiency on monocot plnats (ex. rice) by using immature embryos as explants for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.

You might be interested in this paper: which describes how to improve Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation on Monocots. The transformation efficiency were dramatically increased by using theri approach.
